Polyacrylonitrile copolymer was formed by free radical polymerization with acrylonitrile as the main raw material and other copolymers. The types and proportions of copolymers can affect the properties of fibers. For example, the softness and dyeing properties of fibers can be improved by adding monomers such as methyl acrylate.


For example, in the production process, by adjusting the proportion of copolymer monomers, acrylic fibers with different properties can be produced to meet the needs of different applications.


Spinning process


Commonly used spinning methods are wet spinning and dry spinning. Wet spinning is to dissolve the polyacrylonitrile copolymer in a suitable solvent to form the spinning stock, and then extruded into the coagulation bath through the spinneret hole to coagulate the fiber. Dry spinning is to heat and melt the polyacrylonitrile copolymer, extruded through the spinneret hole, vaporized the solvent in the hot air, and solidified the fiber.


Different spinning processes will affect the structure and properties of the fibers. The acrylic fiber produced by wet spinning has regular section shape and high strength. The acrylic fiber produced by dry spinning has better hand feel and softness.
